About The United Kingdom

Officially called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the UK is located off the north-western coast of continental Europe and is a part of the British Isles. It is a sovereign country made of 4 countries namely; England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland and many smaller islands within the British Isles.

The British are the descendants of waves of invaders and migrants, including Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, and Normans. In the 1950s and 1960s, people from former colonies in the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia came to the United Kingdom to work. The present day UK is very diverse as a variety of people with various roots made the UK their home many years ago.
